Volvo India has announced a price hike of up to 5 per cent across its entire lineup. The prices are said to have been increased in order to offset the increment in basic import duty, which was announced in the Union Budget 2018.
In the Union Budget 2018, the Indian government announced a hike of about 5 per cent in customs duty on both CKD and CBU imports, taking the rates up to 15 per cent and 25 per cent respectively. And since all Volvo cars are either CKD or CBU imports in the country, the price hike was pretty much inevitable. Related: Budget 2018: Hike In Custom Duty To Increase Luxury Car Prices
