New Delhi:  British Indian novelist Salman Rushdie has penned down eleven bestsellers including The Satanic Verses, Midnight's Children, and Grimus. He was awarded Nobel Prize in Literature for his novel, The Satanic Verses and quoted as saying that they would have been "too predictable, too popular."This author has been married four times. He was married to his first wife Clarissa Luard in 1976 and got blessed with a son, Zafar in 1979. The couple ended their marriage in 1987. 

In 1988, he decided to tie the knot with an American novelist Marianne Wiggins. Though, both of them parted their ways in 1993. 

Salman Rushdie decided to marry once again in 1997 to Elizabeth West and got separated in 2004. The pair was a proud parent to son, Milan. 

In 2004, Rushdie married Indo-American Padma Lakshmi, an actress and host of the American reality-television show Top Chef. The marriage ended on 2 July 2007.
