Navaratri 2017: Third Day Maa Chandraghanta is worshiped

New Delhi, Sep 23:Today is the third day of Navaratri puja and the devotees are continuing with their 'pujas' with equal enthusiasm an fervour. Today on the third day Mother Goddess manifests herself as Chandraghanta.
The third manifestation of Durga as Chandraghanta has a special significance. She is depicted as a fierce 10-armed Goddess, roaring in anger. Chandraghanta is worshiped on the third day of Navratri. She has a golden complexion and on her forehead she wears a crescent moon, which is why she is called Chandraghanta by her devotees. According to scriptures during a great battle between gods and the demons, the sound vibrations produced by her ghanta (bell) took the lives of many wicked enemies. She rides on a lion and is believed to destroy all evil and wicked.
The auspicious festival of Navrarti is here and the enthusiastic devotees are all set to welcome the Goddess with fervor and emotions. Navaratri is a nine-day long festival and during these nine days nine different types of Goddesses are worshiped as Maa Durga manifests herself in nine different ways in these nine days.
