Exclusive: Deepika Padukone and Vishal Bhardwaj's project named Rani!

Rani is the name of Deepika Padukone's next movie, which is on the life of gangster Sapna Didi. Directed by ace filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj, the movie also stars Irrfan Khan.

Deepika Padukone has started the prep for getting into the skin of her character that is based on Sapna Didi aka Rahima Khan (the notorious Mafia Queen from the 80’s).

As per a leading daily, “Deepika has already started the preparation for her role of a Mafia queen and she is quite particular that she gets the tonality and body language as close to the late Sapna Didi that was once a terror for other gangsters. The filming will begin by early March.

The film also stars Irrfan Khan who plays Deepika’s husband and is also a part of the mafia called Kaliya. Since both of them have already shared screen space together in Piku, it will be fun to watch them as 80s mafia dons. Vishal Bharadwaj and Irrfan have earlier worked together on Maqbool and Saat Khoon Maaf. 

Talking about the film which was earlier supposed to be directed by his assistant director Honey Trehan, Bhardwaj said: "I wrote the script of that film one to two years ago, but at the moment I am directing it. So I am looking forward to work with Deepika because I like her body of work. She is a beautiful actress and I feel the big screen loves her. "

This will be a completely new avatar of a lady don for Deepika and hence she is really working meticulously to strike the right chord. Her Bollywood journey isn't any less than a dream. Deepika’s Bollywood journey is no less than a dream and the girl sure has come a long way since then. From being launched alongsdie SRK to playing a role opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the actress has been successful in surprising us with her excellent performances.
